Richard Gerdes' Obituary
Richard Robert Gerdes, 80 of Corydon passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at his home. Richard was born to Ihno Charles & Lois (McQuarry) Gerdes in Clio on March 31, 1938. He received his education from Corydon High School, graduating in 1956. Richard would further his education at Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Richard was a farmer by trade. He and his brother cropped and raised livestock. Richard enjoyed, farming, gardening and preaching. He attended numerous churches and taught monthly bible study at West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville. Richard enjoyed talking about his numerous jobs he held while being a farmer, he worked for Grismore Turkey Farms, he installed mobile homes and also received training as a nurse's aide. Richard enjoyed good conversation with people about his life and the Lord. Survivors include two siblings: Nellie Elizabeth Anderson-Caylor, John Edward Gerdes (Nancy) and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Edgar Lee Gerdes and an infant brother. Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Monday, December 31, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment will immediately follow the service at Corydon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Prairie Trail Museum or Corydon Senior Center and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
