Richard 'Pop Can Jim' Freeborn, age 79, of Centerville, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. He was born the son of William and Lucy (Ward) Freeborn on April 26, 1934 in Springfield, Missouri. He attended school in Unionville, Missouri.Jim worked many years at New Focus in Centerville. He could be seen all around the town of Centerville collecting cans. He so enjoyed his friendships with everyone one at Centerville Community Betterment and the area group homes. In death, 'Pop Can Jim' joins his parents; brother, Howard Freeborn; sisters, Ruth Harris and Dorothy Leckbee.His is survived by: a sister, Jean Peterson of Keokuk, IowaMemorial services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11 am the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial of his ashes will take place at the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Missouri.Memorials can be made to Centerville Community Betterment and left or mailed to the funeral home.
