Richard "Dean" Duley's Obituary
Richard Dean Duley was born on August 24, 1923 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Lester and Joan (Tharp) Duley. He graduated from Moulton High School in 1942. After graduation he worked for Glen Duley Trucking in Moulton for one year before entering the Army. After his return from the Army, he was united in marriage to Dorothy 'June' Houser on December 20, 1943 in Lancaster, MO. After his marriage, he started his career with the Wabash Railroad working as a fireman on the steam locomotives. His son, David, was born in 1945 and Richard in 1947. Dean moved to Moberly, MO for the railroad and was promoted to Engineer. June and the boys stayed in Moulton until the boys graduated from high school, then June moved to Moberly to be with Dean. He later was promoted to Road Forman of Engineers. After working in Moberly, they moved to Decatur, IL, where he retired from the railroad and moved back to Moulton. After moving back to Moulton, he worked with his son, David in the Duley Funeral Homes in Moulton and Centerville and also helped him on the farm. Dean was Mayor of Moulton from 1943-1965. He was a past member of the Moulton Masonic Lodge #317 and the Kaaba Shrine Club in Davenport. He attended the Moulton Methodist Church. Dean is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, June Duley on July 31, 2016, five brothers; Joe, Walter, Charles, Glen and Paul Duley and two sisters; Georgia Spotts and Ruth Bridgeman. Dean is survived by his sons; David Duley and his wife Susan of Lake Ozark, MO and Richard Duley and his wife Deanna of Moberly, MO, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great- great granddaughters. Funeral services for Dean will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Jerry Weller officiating. Interment will be in Sunset View Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville.
