Richard Doud's Obituary
Richard Doud, age 55 of Centerville, Iowa passed away December 29, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Richard was born September 28, 1953, the son of Glen and Mary (Welch) Doud in Moline, Illinois. He grew up in East Moline and graduated from United Township High School. After high school, Richard worked for Farmall for almost twelve years. He later moved to Fairfield, Iowa, where he was employed with Rockwell for twelve years. Richard then relocated to Centerville where he worked for Rubbermaid Manufacturing for several years. He was also an over the road truck driver for a short period of time until his retirement due to the time factor of caring for his mother.
In his spare time, Richard enjoyed playing golf and watching sports on the television, especially ice hockey, NASCAR, and baseball. He also liked riding his motorcycle.
Richard is survived by his mother Mary Doud of Centerville, Iowa; a brother Bill (Sandy) Doud of East Moline, Illinois; two nephews, Ryan and Kyle Doud of East Moline, Illinois; two aunts, June (Ed) Cochran of Centerville, and La Rue (Dave) Roes of East Moline, Illinois; and two uncles, James (Michelle) Welch of East Moline, Illinois, and Richard Welch of Silvis, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his father Glen Doud; his grandparents; an aunt Dixie Stewart; and three uncles, Dean Welch, Gene Billington, and Robert Doud.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2008 at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Ben Suchman officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. The Lange Funeral Home will be open all day Friday for viewing. A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th ST., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
