Rhonda Lea Guyer's Obituary
Rhonda Lea Guyer, age 62, of Altoona, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at UnityPoint Health - Methodist West Hospital in Des Moines.
Rhonda was born on April 1, 1961 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of James Fredrick Fenton and Juanita Mae (Jasper) Fenton. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1979. She was united in marriage to Steven Craig Guyer on October 3, 1992.
Rhonda was the Manager of Starbucks at Hy-Vee in West Des Moines, and had a very close relationship with her work family. She loved making everyone happy, including her customers. When Rhonda wasn't making others around her happy, she enjoyed going to her "happy place" at the Lake of the Ozarks. She was an avid collector of many things including Starbucks cups and beanie babies and she had a special love for sweets. Most importantly, Rhonda's family was her number one priority. Being with her children and their families made her the happiest in life.
Left to cherish Rhonda's memory are her husband of over 30 years, Steven Guyer; her children, Nicole (A.J.) Fenton-Smith, Chad (Missy) Hengstenberg, Josh (Julie) Hengstenberg, and Skyler Guyer; six grandchildren, Cheyanne (Jonathan) Ramos, Teigh (Maelynn) Hengstenberg, Andy Hengstenberg, Passion Hengstenberg, Riley Bears, and Chase Hengstenberg; her siblings, Darrell (Terri) Fenton, Craig (Barb) Fenton, and Laura (Ray) Medlock; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, James Fenton; her mother and step father, Juanita (Ellis) Hanna; and her daughter, Kylee Guyer.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of life service will be held at 4PM, Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Visitation will take place Sunday, July 9, 2023 with the family greeting friends from 12-4PM. Memorials in honor of Rhonda may be written to either MD Anderson Center, University of Iowa Hospitals (for Pancreatic Cancer Research) or the ARL of Iowa (5452 NE 22nd Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50313), and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN Guyer family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
