Reva Ballard's Obituary
Reva Ballard, 90, of Centerville passed away on May 26, 2016 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Reva was born on December 21, 1925 to David and Mary (Houghland) Thomas. She was raised with her 12 siblings in Cincinnati, IA. She received her education from a local country school. She married Paul Ballard on June 19, 1947 in Centerville, Iowa. Reva played the mandolin in a band with her sister, Ruth and brothers, Harold and Garold. Reva worked as a telephone operator and as a soda jerk at Willers Drug, but spent most of her time as a homemaker. Later in life she joined her daughter, Linda in her shop, Main Attraction. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family. Reva would get together to make Christmas candy with her sisters, cook for extended family and watch her grandchildren and great grandson. Reva is survived by her daughter, Linda (Tom) Briggs of Centerville, IA, two grandchildren; Chad (Shelly) Briggs of Dallas, TX and Alisha (Dan) Jenecke of West Des Moines, IA, great grandson, Brayan Robb of West Des Moines, IA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, husband, Paul Ballard and siblings; Oney Thomas, Earl Thomas, Rosa Vestal, Lillian Crouch, Stella Stoner, Otis Thomas, Lora Terry, Henry Thomas, Harold Thomas, Garold Thomas, Ruth Worley and Ethyel Clark. Services for Reva will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Interment will be at Dale Cemetery.
