Rebecca Thomas' Obituary
Rebecca "Becky" Thomas, age 60, of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Becky was born on December 9, 1963 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Fred Allen Moorman Sr. and Jo Ann (Easterday) Moorman. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1983. She furthered her education with four years of college. Becky then joined the United States Army on June 17, 1988 in West Des Moines, Iowa. She was a Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor in the military for 23 years, and earned several medals before she retired on September 30, 2008. While in the Army, she met Timothy Michael Thomas and they were united in marriage on August 14, 1992.
Becky was loved by all who knew her. She had a kind, protective soul who was a guardian angel to all around her. She enjoyed spoiling her family, her flower garden and being around animals. She loved her country, and was very patriotic.
Left to cherish Becky's memory are her son, Nick (Anna) Thomas; her grandchildren, Avery Thomas and Jayden Sinn; her siblings, Fred (Gail) Moorman Jr., David (Gloria) Moorman, Sheila (Terry) Kauzlarich, Kathy (Brad Henshaw) Moorman, Holly (Shawn) Oden, MaryAnn (Scott) Sampson, Jaime (Jamie) Cochran, Josh (Shirley) Moorman, and Jake (Jessica) Moorman; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband, Tim Thomas; her parents, Fred Sr. and Jo Ann Moorman; her son, Devon Moorman; her sister, Marla Moorman; as well as several family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Holly Oden officiating. Burial will be held at Highland Cemetery in Mystic with Military Rites. Visitation will take place Friday, June 21, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 5:00-7:00PM.
