Raymond ""Ray"" Ellison's Obituary
Raymond ""Ray"" Ellison, age 67 of Unionville, Iowa passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at his home.
Ray was born June 3, 1946 in Valley City, North Dakota to Albert and Mildred (Hansen) Ellison. Following high school, Ray served in the National Guard for six years. He married Shirley Scott Weldon on February 7, 1972.
He was employed with the Burlington Northern Railroad as an IBEW electrician for over twenty years.
Ray lived an active life while residing in Montana. He was a volunteer firefighter, as well as a search and rescue pilot with the civil air patrol while living in Montana. Ray enjoyed numerous other passions while living out west, such as snow skiing, fly fishing, snow mobiling in Yellowstone National Park and riding dirt bikes on the mountain trails. He was also a long time member of the Elks Lodge. Upon Ray and Shirley's relocation to Iowa, he engaged in the hobby of bird watching.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ellison of Unionville, Iowa; three children, Danille (Joe) Kesteloot of Knoxville, Iowa, Bill (Ginger) Ellison of Kansas City, Missouri and Craig Weldon of Ames, Iowa; six grandchildren, Chris and Maxine Weldon, Max and Ava Ellison, and Joey and Ray Kesteloot; and a brother, Vern (Gwen) Ellison of Tacoma, Washington.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ron Ellison.
A visitation in Ray's honor will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, April 4, 2014 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Moulton First Responders and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
