Raymon "John" Cridlebaugh's Obituary
Raymon C. 'John' Cridlebaugh, 89 of Centerville, Iowa died on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Pervis and Estella (Chambers) Cridlebaugh on September 19, 1922 near Udell, Iowa. He graduated from the Udell High School in 1939. John farmed with his father and drove trucks with his brother Keith, occupations he enjoyed the rest of his life. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946, and was stationed in Texas and Germany. On May 16, 1948, he was united in marriage to Lois Marshall on the Cridlebaugh farm near Udell, Iowa. They farmed for over 40 years in the Udell area before moving to Centerville. To friends and relatives, he devoted many hours and miles as long as he was able. He always loved a house full of family for the holidays or a room full of friends drinking coffee. He was a member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church east of Centerville and the American Legion in Unionville, Iowa.He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Fay, Glenn, Bayard and Keith Cridlebaugh; sisters, Belva Harrison and May Oliver; and a great granddaughter, Hannah Swarts. John is survived by: his wife, Lois Cridlebaugh of Centerville, Iowa; a son, Gary Cridlebaugh and his wife, Joanne of Centerville, Iowa; daughters, Kaye Swarts and her husband, Lyle of Newton, Iowa and Kathy Cridlebaugh of Centerville, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Brad (Chelsea) Swarts, Greg (Carie) Swarts, Jeremy Swarts, Mike (Sarah) Cridlebaugh, Sara (Kevin) Goryl, Michelle Sacco (Chad) and Ryan Sacco (Macey); and six great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 1 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Steve Houser officiating. Burial will follow in the Eaton Cemetery west of Unionville, Iowa with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 1 pm until 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to either the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church or to Eaton Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home.
