Ray E. Stickler's Obituary
Ray Everett Stickler, age 81 of Centerville, IA died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.
Ray was born July 6, 1925 the son of Roy and Audrey (Haines) Stickler near Mystic. He attended Mystic Schools. Ray enlisted into the US Navy in 1944 and then married Margaret Young, August 1, 1945 in Seattle, Washington. Ray worked for Dick Hamm's Sunshine # 4 Coal Mine and Young Radiator for 22 years. He enjoyed farming, carpentry, woodworking, gardening, and spending time on his pontoon boat and with his dog Sparky. Raymond was a member of the Christian Church.
Ray is survived by two sons; Dennis (Francine) Stickler of Centerville, IA, Rick (Shelley) Stickler of LaPorte City, IA, one daughter; Sharon (Marvin) Walter of Centerville, IA, seven grandchildren; Dennis Stickler, Steve Stickler, Trinita Shewry, Mindi Stickler, Alissa Burger, Matthew Stickler and Melanie Stickler, and five great grandchildren; Abby Stickler, Katie Shewry, Harley Stickler, Paige Stickler and Aidan Stickler. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three siblings; J.D. ""Jack"" Stickler, Carl Stickler and Lelah Armstrong.
Funeral services will be held 10AM Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville with Pastor Pat Summers officiating. The funeral home will be open for visitation all day Friday with the family present from 6-8 PM Friday evening. A memorial has been established to the 18-80 Club and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S.18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
