Randy Engle's Obituary
Randy Lynn Engle, 64 of Corydon passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines. Randy was the youngest child born to Joe and Dorothy (Latimer) Engle on June 25, 1956 in Corydon. He received his education from Wayne Community High School, graduating in 1979. After graduation, he attended several workshops, most recent being Tenco Workshop in Centerville, Iowa. Randy lived at the New Venture Group Home for over 20 years until his health failed in 2018. At that time, he became a resident of Corydon Specialty Care. Some of Randy's favorite past times were dancing, watching cartoons and western shows. He also enjoyed watching all sports, especially his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes. Randy enjoyed playing games (which he always won and would immediately say "I Won, I Won" with a big smile). He enjoyed spending time at the farm and getting together with family during the holidays, especially Christmas. Survivors include his sisters: Nancy Meddings (Dick Boyd), Marlene Carlyle (Jim), Patsy Langloss (Leroy), nieces/nephews: Fred Blackford (Connie), Susan Thibodeaux, Londa Daily (Jay), Kenny Carlyle (Krishna), Dave Carlyle, Steve Langloss (Trudi), Kim Langloss, aunt Cleo Kent, several great nieces, nephews, cousins, an aunt and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Peggy Foster, brother-in-law, Bill Meddings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Randy will be missed by his family and friends. Funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Corydon Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, the family asks that masks be worn and social distancing is practiced. There will be an open visitation, without family present, for friends to stop by and pay their respects on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 9-1 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to Wayne County ARC, Wayne County Special Olympics or to a memorial of the donor's choice.
