For you, RalphAs the last bit of Labor's Dayslipped into its Year's memoryhe lay his tools to their benchas his labor grew silenta worker's life came to its end.A worker first, father, husband, brother, sona cherished friend and Christian man with faith as strong as hands grown steady from long work,a war veteranJarhead's Swabby; as with all of usa treasureto those who loved him. Most, to me, he was a teacher(like his father, but not with books). His classroom was the world. His lesson plan taught work.So no more fitting end could come to such a man's life as this, that in the twilight of Labor's holidaythis man's life silently slipped away.Labor Day, first begun in Oregon (where I am from and will be going)and where, from now on Brother Ralph(my sweet father) I will look to the seaand think of My Worker resting at the feet of his Carpenter, of his Master of the Lord. (Ralph, if you can hear me, I know this isn't Twinkie Town, but I really tried to make this rhymejust for you! God bless you and keep you, my brother.) We are so sorry to hear about Ralph. We so enjoyed watching him out in the yard and garage all summer long. He usually stayed out there longer than us in the summer time! Carson, our 10 year old, especially enjoyed going over there w Darin and visiting and loved it when Ralph would drive over on his lawn mower and visit w us. We will be thinking of you and so wish we could be there. Dear Marjean, Max, Carol & families....We were saddened to read of Ralph's death, in the on line Courier . Even though our paths separated when we moved in opposite directions many fond memories of your family live on in our hearts and minds. Lowell always enjoyed the chats when Ralph would stop by as he went around the corner. Those memories will live on forever. We pray all the wonderful memories you hold dear will live on in your hearts and give you comfort during this time of grief. May God Bless each one of you with the needed strength and peace for each new day. Sending sympathy and prayers to all...Lowell & Mary Posted by Lowell & Mary Smith - Ankeny, IA - Friend September 07, 2011
