Ralph Earl Johnson's Obituary
Ralph Earl Johnson, age 83, of Centerville, Iowa, died Saturday, March 5, 2011at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Lewis and Edith (Hinkle) Johnson on December 20, 1927 in Crookson, Minnesota. He received his education in Waukegan, Illinois and later Indian Hills Community College where he received an education in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration at the age of 74 years.On November 12, 1974, Ralph was united in marriage to Thelma Christine Fitzwater in Memphis, Missouri. Ralph worked as a mechanic all over the United States, from East to West. He served his country during WWII with the United States Army. He was especially fond of his pets, Toby, JonJon and Buster.He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughters, Janice Foutz and Eadie Johnson; and a son, Eddy Johnson; as well as ten brothers and sister.Ralph was survived by: his wife, Christine Johnson of Centerville, Iowa; sons, Dave Johnson (Tiffany Faris) of Centerville, Iowa, John Lee Simmons (Becky) of College Station, Texas, Chancie Fitzwater (Betty) of Centerville, Iowa, Robert Trentor (Belinda) of Milan, Missouri, John Johnson of Nashville, Tennessee and Ralph Johnson, Jr. of Iowa City, Iowa; daughters, Candy Johnson of Centerville, Iowa, Kathy (Bill) Bray of Columbia, Missouri, Mary Johnson of Iowa City, Iowa, Lilly (Dan) Northrup of Iowa City, Iowa, Tammy (Jeff) Reyna of Des Moines, Iowa, Clara (Larry) Culp of Des Moines, Iowa, Annis (Brian) Lamb of Johnston, Iowa and Alice (Tony) Wattenbarger of Unionville, Missouri; thirty grandchildren and many great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Johnson of Ohio and a sister, Jeanne Raper of Florida.Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 2 pm at the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Missouri with John Bridges officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of procession to the Unionville Cemetery.Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the family and left at or mailed to the funeral home.
