Phyllis Moser's Obituary
PHYLLIS ALETHA (Garton) MOSER March 31, 1927 - August 13, 2016 On Saturday, August 13, 2016 Heaven opened it's golden gates and welcomed Phyllis A. (Garton) Moser home at the age of 89 years young. Phyllis was a very kind and loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her children (Ric and Lindsay); Grandchildren: (Adam, Jason, Ryan and Aletha) and her Great Grandson's (Leland & Tate). Leland always referred to Phyllis as his 'Grand Ma Ma'. Phyllis A. (Garton) Moser was born on March 31, 1927 to Walter & Cleo (Mosher) Garton. She grew up around the Promise City and Corydon area. Attending school in Corydon. For many years Phyllis worked in the Banking Business. She started her career while in High School working part time at Corydon State Bank where she later worked Full Time. Then later went to work for Bill Miles as his Secretary. In 1949, Phyllis and George Moser eloped and went to Albany, Mo. to get married. After their wedding they made their home in Humeston, Iowa. George worked as a Rural Mail Carrier and Phyllis went to work for Citizen's State Bank in Humeston. In 1954 George and Phyllis welcomed a Son (Richter A.) to their family and then 5 years later they welcomed a Daughter (Lindsay B.) to complete their family. In 1969 George and Phyllis moved to Corydon, Iowa where Phyllis had accept a promotion at Citizen's State Bank as a Head Teller. That is where they made their home. On April 11, 2005 George passed away. Phyllis remained in the home and enjoyed walking, going to Church on Sunday, going to Garage Sales and spending time with the Grandkids. On March 31, 2007 she celebrated her 80th Birthday with a Big Party. For she was the only one in her family who had lived to be '80' years old and she wanted to celebrate Big!! For she had lived longer than her parents and grandparents. That was a big accomplishment for Phyllis!! Later in life Phyllis told Lindsay that in her next life not to let her live to be 80 because getting old wasn't fun, there were too many aches and pains in getting old! She loved to joke around. As Phyllis got older she moved to Murphy's Place in Corydon, Iowa where she lived for 3 years. Then in 2013 Phyllis moved to Brookfield, Mo. to live at Life Care and be closer to Lindsay.
