Phyllis J. Knowles' Obituary
Phyllis Jean Knowles, age 75, of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center's - Long Term Care in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Carl and Florence (Moore) Mikels on October 12, 1935 near Exline, Iowa. She graduated from the Cincinnati Community Schools in Cincinnati, Iowa.On May 1, 1955, Phyllis was united in marriage to Jessie 'Jay' Knowles in Unionville, Missouri. She worked for a time at McGraw-Edison in Centerville, before becoming a home maker.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Jessie 'Jay' Knowles on August 5, 2007; and a brother, Richard Mikels.Phyllis is survived by: her daughters; Sheryl Harlan of Unionville, Missouri, Deborah Scott and her husband, Craig of Worthington, Missouri, Donna Todey and her husband, Joe of Rathbun, Iowa and Pamela Phelps and her husband, Paul of Mystic, Iowa; a son, Mike Knowles of Centerville, Iowa; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held 10 am, Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Mark Waits officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Cincinnati, Iowa. Visitation will be open on Wednesday, February 9, 2010 at the funeral home, with the family present on Thursday from 9 am till the time of services.Memorials can be made in her name and will be designated at a later date and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
