Dear Leanne, I heard of your mother's passing just recently. You and Gib have my deepest sympathies but at the same time we can celebrate her passing into eternal life. Her entry into heaven was surely welcomed by Aunt Ann and Uncle Earl. Phyllis was always a delight to be near and a fishing wonder woman. She could fry bluegill and crappie like no other. Phyllis and I have been friends since 1964, when we worked together at what was then called Union Carbide in Centerville. After I moved away, I kept in touch with her and made it a point to see her when I was visiting family in Centerville. I last saw her in August 2010, and I spoke with her on the phone late last year. When I saw her last summer, I had the strong impression I wouldn't be seeing her again in this life. Now she's in a better place, free of pain and suffering. I have two stories to relate. Phyllis had a fantastic sweet corn garden & once when the corn was ready Phyllis invited me over. We enjoyed the corn so much I ate 9 cobs & she ate 12. Another example of the kind of person & Mom Phyllis was, once Leanne & I went out for the evening with friends. Phyllis let us take her car & we ended up with a dent in it. She was so kind & forgiving when we told her she just had us sit down & gave us some ice cream. I loved that women! Rest in peace Phyllis! Remembering the time Leanne and Dean and I went camping down at Rathbun Lake with her Mom and Gilbert. Jimmy, a friend of all of ours bought Phyllis & Gib's deck boat and we hauled it down with us also so we could do some boating. It was a fun filled weekend with many laughs around the camp fire with Phyllis and of course Leanne getting up and making her famous campfire breakfast. Phyllis was a joy to be around, very funny and very outspoken. I know she is in a better place surrounded by all of her family who has already gone before her.
