Phillip Casale's Obituary
Phillip Casale, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024 at the age of 77. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on October 30, 2024 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Phillip will be buried alongside both of his parents.
Phillip was born January 1, 1947, the son of Italian immigrants, Frank and Mary Casale long-time residents of Centerville. Phillip grew up with 3 sisters and 2 brothers: Laura, Joe, Rose, Mary, and Frank. He was cared for in the home by his parents for the first 33 years of his life.
He is survived by his brother Frank (Pat) Casale of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, cousin Mike (Wanda) Grasso of Ottumwa, Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews across the country. Phillip's contagious laughter and huge smile touched many hearts throughout his life.
Phillip's family would like to thank all the people over the years who have been advocates for people with special needs. Thank you to all the caring and compassionate doctors, nurses, caregivers and staff at Glenwood Resource Center in Glenwood, Iowa, for whom he was a long-time resident of. Also, thank you to Community Options and Phillip's nursing staff, at his most recent home. Special thanks to Dr. Jose Angel, MD, for his commitment and care for Phillip. We can't say enough about his compassion for Phillip and for his above and beyond support for the family. Also, a sincere thank you to Hillcrest Hospice Team, especially Honey Palmer, for her compassion, care, and support in helping Phillip to be comfortable and meet his needs in his final days. Lastly, we would like to thank Wendy Petersen-Buley, and her staff, at the Center for Disabilities and Development, for her guidance with Phillip's transition from Glenwood Resource Center to Community Options.
