Pearl Josephine Kinser's Obituary
Pearl Josephine Kinser, 90 of Corydon, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa.
Josephine was born to Herman and Merna (Hammond) Hancox on May 14, 1932 in Promise City, Iowa. Josephine graduated from Corydon High School in 1950. She married the love of her life, Doyle Kinser, on June 3, 1950 and to this union, they welcomed two daughters: Karen and Sharon.
Josephine worked as a bookkeeper for Homer Grismore turkey hatcher while Doyle was stationed overseas during the Korean War. Later, she farmed with Doyle north of Cambria until moving to Corydon in 1975. During the winter season, she would work for Bob Crawford tax service. Later, she became the bookkeeper for the Corydon lumber yard and worked there until it closed. Josephine then worked part-time at Covington Appliance until retirement. She enjoyed quilting, in which she made numerous quilts for family members, sewing, hand crafting and puzzles. You could find her in the kitchen all summer long canning veggies or baking. She loved baking sugar cookies with her grandson especially during the holidays. One of her favorite things she enjoyed doing was polka dancing with Doyle at various festivals all over the Midwest. She was a member of the Corydon United Methodist Church and also the quilting guild for several years.
Josephine is survived by her daughters: Karen Jo Lovelette of Mitchell, South Dakota and Sharon (Vernon) Wallace of Allerton; grandson Logan (Sammi) Wallace of Corydon; great-grandchildren: Emery and Kinser Wallace of Corydon and Christopher Franzen. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Kinser; parents Herman and Merna Hancox; brother Andrew Hancox; granddaughter Jade Baker; and son-in-laws Charlie Baker and Wayne Lovelette.
Services for Josephine will be held at Corydon Cemetery in Corydon, Iowa on September 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Memorials in Josephine's honor may be given to the Corydon Methodist Church or Murphy's Place Assisted Living in Corydon.
