Pearl Richard Cook's Obituary
Pearl Richard Cook, age 92, of Moulton, Iowa, died Friday, June 29, 2007 at Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born the son of William R. and Josie (Davis) Cook on April 2, 1915 near Coal City, Iowa. He attended Moulton Community Schools. On April 19, 1946, Pearl was united in marriage to Lillian Genevee Whitworth in Bloomfield, Iowa. He worked as a meat cutter for the John Morrell Company in Ottuwma, Iowa for over 28 years. Pearl served his country during WWII in the US Coast Guard from December 14, 1942 until his honorable discharge on October 18,1945. He was a member of the Burl McClure American Legion Post #280 in Moulton.He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Lillian Genevee Cook on October 25, 2006; brother, Lester 'Chub' Cook; step-father, Charles Hutchek.Pearl is survived by: his son, Larry Cook and his wife, Coleen of Moulton, Iowa; daughter, Sandra K. Foglesong of Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 10 am at the Christian Church in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial with full military honors by American Legion Post #280 of Moulton will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton.
