Pauline Louthan's Obituary
Pauline Louthan, age 92 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville.
She was born September 27, 1920 in Hooker, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ecil Vernon and Georgia (Riddish) Applebee. Pauline received her education in Liberal. She married Morris Louthan on December 24, 1941 in Kismet, Kansas. Morris preceded her in death on January 3, 2003.
Pauline spent many years raising her children and taking care of the family. Her first job was with Morris in the furniture business in both Oklahoma and Elkhart, Kansas. While residing in Elkhart she was also employed as a grocery clerk.
In 1965 the Louthan family relocated to Paramount, California. Pauline spent the next eighteen years working for the May Company in Lakewood, California. She retired in 1983.
In her retirement years Pauline enjoyed traveling, camping with family, crocheting, knitting, gardening, and reading. Morris and Pauline enjoyed spending the winter months in Yuma, Arizona.
In 2005, Pauline moved to Iowa to be near her family.
She is survived by her three children, Stanley M. (Elaine) Louthan of Henderson, Colorado, Linda L. (Bill) Johnson of Centerville, Iowa, and Paula K. (Charlie) Shearan of Indio, California; seven grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Morris; her parents; and three siblings, Alfred Applebee, Vernon ""Buddy"" Applebee and Bernice Neff.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 12-6 PM, with the family present from 12-3 PM at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, Iowa. Burial will take place at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, California at a later date. Memorials have been established to the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
