Paul L. "Puzzy" Wakefield's Obituary
Paul L. 'Puzzy' Wakefield, Sr., age 94, of Mystic, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at Seymour Care Center in Seymour, Iowa. Paul was born the son of Lawrence and Sarah (Philby) Wakefield on April 20, 1910 in Peacock, Iowa. He received his education in the Brazil, Iowa Community Schools.He was a construction worker and worked on the road crews all over the state of Iowa and helped build Rathbun Dam. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers out of Des Moines, Iowa for over 20 years. On January 28, 1931, Paul was united in marriage to Frances 'Fannie' Starchevich in Unionville, Missouri.Paul was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother in infancy; a sister, Lelah Spain, in 1946; and his wife, Fannie, on February 4, 1991.Paul is survived by: his son, Paul, Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Centerville, Iowa; a daughter, Beverly Williams, and her husband, Ron, of Marion, Iowa; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, at 10:00 A.M. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, at 1:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the family present from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to the Mystic Booster Club and can be left at or mailed to the To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Paul L.
