Paul Leonard Saldana's Obituary
Paul Leonard Saldana, age 87, of Centerville, Iowa, died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. He was born the son of John 'Frank' and Josephine (Ziddnos) Saldana in the Diamond Coal Camp near Centerville, Iowa on November 20, 1918. He received his education in the St. Mary's Catholic School.On February 11, 1937, Paul was united in marriage to Marie A. Tovrea at St Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa. He worked many years as a coal miner and also in the Morris Foundry in Centerville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville.Paul is preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Maria Saldana on October 28, 2003; daughters, Lena Anita Saldana, Marilyn Hogg and Carolyn Henderson; grandsons, Eddie Saldana and Joseph Henderson; brothers, Daniel Saldana, Edward Saldana, Johnny Politovich; sisters, Frances Leon, Lena Saldana, Agnus Hernandez Wakefield and Helen Politovich.He is survived by: his daughters, Dolores Ruth and her husband, Jim of Oregon, Illinois, Pauline Henderson and her husband, Larry of Centerville, Iowa, Janice Kaster and her husband, Jerry of Cambridge, Illinois, and Anita Harper and her husband, Jim of Centerville, Iowa; sons, Jerry Saldana and his wife, Carolyn and Larry Saldana and his wife, Mary all of Centerville and a son by choice whom he raised, James Saldana of Clovis, New Mexico; sisters, Pauline Murry of Phoenix, Arizona and Lorette Kelly of Davenport, Iowa; 29 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 2:30 pm at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Fr. Ron Will, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville.
