Paul Eugene Phelps' Obituary
Paul Eugene (Pep) Phelps, age 59, of Centerville, formerly of Mystic, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 at his home.
Paul was born on January 6, 1964 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Don and Sharon (Barrell) Phelps. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1982. On August 21, 1982, Paul was united in marriage to Pamela Knowles, and to this union, two children were born, Amanda and Kiera.
Paul worked various jobs throughout his life, including Young Radiator for many years, Rubbermaid for a few years, a steel worker and at Cargill for a period of time. Most recently, Paul worked at Hill Phoenix.
In his free time, Paul enjoyed wheeling and dealing. He loved being outdoors, and took great pride in his yard. Some of his favorite things to do was fishing, jamming out to music-especially on his vinyls, which he had an avid collection of, and being with his friends and family, enjoying a beer.
Left to honor Paul's memory are his wife of 41 years, Pamela Phelps; his parents, Don and Sharon Phelps; his children, Amanda Kury (Matthew Spegal) and Kiera Phelps (Elias); two grandchildren, Vinny Kury and Vanessa Kury; his brother, Michael (Stephanie) Phelps; his niece, Sammi (Ricky) Ruckman; his nephew, Mikey (Ashtyn) Phelps; a sister-in-law, Sheryl Harlan; as well as several extended family and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Isal Phelps; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Velta Barrell; In-laws, Phyllis and Jesse D. Knowles: brother-in-law, Mike Knowles and a niece, Brittany Zemo; along with his best pal Yoshi.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, with Pastor Jeremy Croteau officiating. Burial will follow at Elgin Cemetery in Mystic. Visitation will take place, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 10:00AM-11:00AM.
