Paul Cridlebaugh's Obituary
Paul Alva Cridlebaugh, son of Alva and LaVara (Joiner) Cridlebaugh, was born March 2, 1920 near Udell, Iowa. Paul passed away at the age of 94, on September 30, 2014 while a resident of the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cameron, Missouri. Paul served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy (Navy Seabees in Guam. He took great pride in being a veteran. Paul was a member of the Mercer Ragan-Hickman Post 477 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War. On July 31, 1948, Paul was united in marriage to Betty Robbins in Richmond, Missouri. They raised four children on his farm near Moravia. Paul farmed in Appanoose County for 30 years and also ran a trucking business. He and Betty moved to Cainsville, Missouri in 1977 to run the County Line Hog Market. Paul took a brief retirement in 1984, and helped run the Korner Cafe until 1996. He then drove deliveries for Premium Standard Farms until health issues forced him to retire at the age of 87. Paul loved to drive. He had visited 48 of the 50 states in his travels. He loved to tell stories and visit with young and old alike. He was beloved by all of his family. Paul is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Cridlebaugh of Princeton, Missouri, sons; Jim Logan (Rowena), Colin Cridlebaugh (Shirley) Joe Cridlebaugh (Anita), 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Paula, sisters; Mildred Smith, Wanda Van Loon, Ruby Davis, great grandchild, Julian Williams. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at First Christian Church in Princeton, Missouri with Rev. Gary Watkins officiating.
