Paul Edwin "Eddie" BurkhiserJanuary 12, 1946 - April 19, 2025Paul Edwin "Eddie" Burkhiser, 79, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.Eddie was born on January 12, 1946, in Centerville, Iowa, and was adopted and raised by his grandparents, Charles and Louise Burkhiser. He spent much of his childhood alongside his sister and brother-in-law, Rose and James Lowe, traveling extensively and enjoying summers at the newly formed Lake Thunderhead-camping, skiing, and boating.A proud graduate of Seymour High School, Eddie was a member of the Class of 1964. That same summer, on June 6, he married the love of his life, Ann Pinson, at the historic Unionville Christian Church. Eddie dedicated many years to serving as Sunday School Superintendent at the Seymour Christian Church and later celebrated his wife's baptism and changed his membership on their first wedding anniversary at the Unionville Christian Church, where they remained faithful members.Eddie was deeply involved in the Putnam County 4-H program, where he served for many years as the Swine Superintendent. He also had a long and fulfilling trucking career, during which he was known by his CB handle, "Porky Pig." Farming was Eddie's lifelong passion-he found great joy in raising pigs, cattle, crops and hay.In his free time, Eddie enjoyed deer and coyote hunting with his children and grandchildren. He loved old cars and is remembered for his 1956 Ford the "Ramblin' Rose". Eddie found his greatest joy simply being surrounded by his large, close-knit family, whom he cherished with all his heart.Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Ann, of the home, and their five children, Alan (Melissa) Burkhiser of Milo, IA, Paula (Rick) Robbins of Unionville, MO, Scot (Chrissie) Burkhiser of Memphis, MO, Amy Cullum of Unionville, MO, Devin (Amber) Burkhiser of Unionville, MO. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Sara (Matt), Britni (James), Emily (Rick), Ryan (Taffi), Chelsea (Arabelle), Kyler, Jerzi, Michalyn, Karson, Riley, Parker, and Asher; seven great-grandchildren (with one more on the way); and many nieces and nephews.Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; his father- and mother-in-law, Herschel and Ocal Pinson; his sister, Rose Lowe; his brother-in-law, James Lowe; and his sister, Maxine Shonts.A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Unionville. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Unionville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be TJ Payne, Eric Anders, Roger Ray, Matt Lowe, Chad Wyant and Doug Norris. Honorary pallbearer will be JC VanGenderen.
