Paul L. Archibald's Obituary
Paul Archibald, age 86 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Monday, November 10, 2008 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.
Paul was born October 13, 1922, the son of Joseph and Nancy (Johnson) Archibald in Centerville, Iowa. He married Helen Rock on October 18, 1947 in Centerville, Iowa. Paul served in the US Navy. He started working for the John Deere Harvester, Moline, Illinois in 1946 and retired in 1982. Paul enjoyed gardening and was an Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline, Illinois and Centerville, Iowa, a Charter Member for the Croatian Crest Club, and Brotherhood of Pattern Makers.
Paul is survived by his children, Nancy (John) Vernon of West Des Moines, Iowa, Beverly (Jim) Quaintance of Solon, Iowa, Kenneth (Sara) Archibald of Canton, Michigan, Randy (Joni) Archibald of Silvis, Illinois, and Paula (Barney) O'Brien of Clive, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; siblings, Lucille Carter of Radcliffe, Iowa, Jim Archibald of Rock Island, Illinois, Charles Archibald of Moline, Illinois, Joe Archibald of Washington, Iowa, Dick Archibald of Des Moines, Iowa, Sid Archibald of Tupelo, Mississippi; and a loving companion, Eleanor Cebuhar of Centerville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers, Glenn and Bert Archibald.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Lange Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 PM. A Rosary Service will be held 7 PM, Thursday at the funeral home with Father Dennis Schaab officiating. Military Rites will begin at 8 PM. Mass of Resurrection will be held 11 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline, Illinois with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline Illinois. A memorial has been established to the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa or St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline, Illinois and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
