Patricia Niday's Obituary
Patricia Niday, age 79 of Corydon passed away on March 16, 2021 at Corydon Specialty Care. Patricia Claudie Hennessey was born on April 17, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Paul Hennessey and Claudie (McFate) Fernon. Patricia had two brothers: Paul Jr. and Joe Hennessey. She attended school in Louisiana; one year of high school at Allerton High School where she was on the homecoming court and was a cheerleader. She then graduated from Warren High School in Warren, Michigan with the class of 1959. During her school years she was often complimented on her beautiful penmanship. She was married to John Niday on October 14, 1962 and to this union two children were born, Paul and Lori. Patricia worked as a file clerk for an insurance company in Des Moines. She also worked as a CNA, a licensed hairdresser, a waitress, and a secretary. She enjoyed listening to her radio; oldies, gospel, country and Elvis. She knew the words to every song no matter the genre. She had a beautiful voice. She also enjoyed watching Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, and Hawaii Five-O. When granddaughter Syerra was younger she would spend evenings with Grandma watching Nick at Nite, eating popcorn and drinking cappuccino. I Love Lucy and The Jeffersons were their favorite shows to watch. She was also a football fan; the Dallas Cowboys were her favorite pro team and Notre Dame and Iowa Hawkeyes were her favorite college teams. Pat loved her coffee, Pepsi, Cheeze-Its, and Mexican food. Before going to the care center, she loved to meet friends for coffee. She was also an animal lover, being partial to cats. She loved visits from family and friends, especially the grandkids and great grandkids even it if was for only a few minutes. She also enjoyed alone time and reading her Bible. In her younger years she was rarely seen without make up on or having her hair done. She had a big heart and was always ready to share anything she had with you. She always picked just the right birthday, anniversary, Christmas or any occasion card and you knew it came from her heart. Patricia is survived by her children: Paul Niday (Peggy), and Lori Niday, grandchildren: Jamaica McNeeley (Kira), Eric McNeeley (Brittany), Casey Plumlee (Courtney), Chase Plumlee (Emilie), Syerra Niday (Michael Ewing), Caitlin Harris, and Ethan Niday (Anna), great grandchildren: Landyn and Journey McNeeley, Caidence Harris, Oliver and Lana Plumlee, Clyde Beso, Remi Ewing and one on the way, lifelong best friend Karalyn Gerhart, and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers: Paul Jr. and Joe Hennessey. Funeral service will be Monday, March 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Paul Niday officiating. Interment will be at the Corydon Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be Sunday, March 21st from 3-6 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Memorials may be given to the family to be designated at a later date.
