Patricia Neubauer's Obituary
Patricia (Walz) Neubauer, 89, of Centerville passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Patricia was born on February 9, 1930 in McCook, Nebraska and was the daughter of Louis and Margaret Walz. She was united in marriage to Leo Neubauer at the St. Catherine Catholic Church in Indianola, NE on January 3, 1951. To this union, seven children were born: Roselyn, Robert, Lynda, Susan, Mary Jo, David, and Diane. Patricia was a loving and devoted wife and mother. The Neubauer family moved to and settled in Centerville in 1965. In addition to her family responsibilities, Patricia worked at Union Carbide until her retirement. Patricia never missed a day of scheduled work. In retirement, Patricia loved the travels she shared with her husband. Their travels together highlighted her fondness for visiting family or making memories with friends. She was a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the Ladies of St. Mary's. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary's School reading to the children and helping with the lunchroom. However, the true joy of Patricia's life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren along with her many friends. Survivors include her children: Robert Neubauer of Alta, Iowa, Susan Beard (Chuck) of Ankeny, IA, Mary Jo Allgeier (Sammy) of Pleasant Hill, IA, David Neubauer (Diana) of Ogden, IA, Diane Hayes (Bryan) of Atlantic, IA, son-in-law Kelly Kauzlarich of Centerville IA, 10 grandchildren: Tina Koestner, Chad Koestner (Courtney), Stephanie McDonald (Kris), Kari Houser (Matt), Elizabeth Rudden (Jerimiah), Valarie West (Patrick), Taylor Bliss (Jordan), Shannon Peter (Mike), Alec Hayes, Mary Hayes, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Louis in 1958 and Margaret in 1967; husband, Leo in 2018; daughters: Roselyn Neubauer in 1960 and Lynda Kauzlarich in 2018. Also preceding her in death were her siblings: Mary Walz, Edna Flaherty, Thomas Walz, Clarence Walz, Walter Walz, Rita Oswald and Oliver Walz. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at St. Mary's Church with Fr. Bill Hubmann officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 22, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6-8 pm. There will be a Rosary at 7:30 pm.
