Patricia C. McDanel's Obituary
Patricia 'Pat' C. McDanel, age 80, of Centerville, Iowa, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Continental at St. Joseph in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Virsil 'Ben' and Mildred 'Maxine' (Gladfelder) Kaster on July 12, 1933 near Darby, Iowa. She graduated from the Moravia Community High School in 1951. On March 16, 1952, Pat was united in marriage to Clell Eugene McDanel in Unionville, Iowa. She was a homemaker and enjoyed running various concession stands at Moravia ball games and also enjoyed putting floats together for the grandkids to ride in the annual Moravia Fall Festival parade. SheattendedGrace United Methodist Church in Moravia; as a longtime member of the Hospital Auxiliary where she logged over 25,000 hours of volunteer work; a member of Taylor Aid and the Red Hat Ladies. Pat was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Clell McDanel on September 22, 2002; son, Jeff C. McDanel on April 21, 1998; a great grandson, Karson Wright Johnson; and a brother, Jack Kaster. She is survived by: her sons, Jody McDanel and his wife, Susan of Centerville, Iowa and Randy McDanel and his wife, Deb of Moravia, Iowa; daughters, Julia VanLaar and her husband, Randy of Grand River, Iowa, Jillette Allen and her husband, Gary of Centerville, Iowa and Joica Campbell and her husband, Donald of Cary, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Cindy Finn officiating. Burial will follow at the Main Station Cemetery west of Moravia. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 from 2 pm until 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
