Patricia Fortune's Obituary
Patricia Fortune, age 74 of Seymour passed away at Mercy West Lakes in West Des Moines on December 17, 2020. Patricia "Pat" Rose Johnston was born on November 12, 1946 in Corydon, Iowa to Wayne and Virginia (Callahan) Johnston. Pat attended school in Wayne County and graduated from Allerton High School in 1964. She was united in marriage to James Fortune and to this union Daniel, Mike, Tricia, Chris, and Jennifer were born. Pat worked a variety of jobs over the years, including but not limited to: Casey's kitchen worker, Kum and Go kitchen worker, Nursing Home Aide/Rehabilitation Therapist, waitress, pharmacy worker, volunteer at Lenox Neighborhood Center and Shivvers janitor. She enjoyed singing (at church), cooking, crocheting, reading, baking and working with her flowers. She was a very dedicated mother, grandmother and friend. She had one of the biggest servant's hearts you could ever find. Survivors include her husband James Fortune, children: Daniel Fortune (Michelle), Mike Fortune (Shirley), Tricia Fortune, Chris Fortune (Shawna), Jennifer Gay (Brad), grandchildren: Danielle Miller (Matt), Samantha Young (Jerel), Kristyn DeVore (Turner), Ashley Meeks (Matt), Taylor Fortune (Brittany), Heather Pope (Brandon), Jesse Jones, Corey Fortune (Haley Hull), Keaton Gay, Tianna Fortune, Zechariah Gay, eighteen great grandchildren, numerous extended family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Virginia Johnston, great granddaughter Brynlee Paul, in-laws Wayne and Lois Fortune and step mother Audie Johnston. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Kim Crawford officiating. Family will be present one hour prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m. to greet family and friends. Visitation (family not present) will be on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the family to be designated at a later date.
