Opal M. Purvis' Obituary
Opal M. Purvis, age 92, of Centerville, Iowa passed away May 18, 2009 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab in Centerville, Iowa.
Opal was born April 24, 1917, the daughter of Frank and Nora (Prouse) Hopkins in Unionville, Iowa. She married Earl Purvis on November 23, 1968 in Lancaster, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2000. Opal enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Grace Tabernacle Church in Centerville, Iowa.
Opal was survived by her step children, Earleen Purvis of Mystic, Iowa, Earl (Paula) Purvis Jr. of Marshalltown, Iowa, Frances (Edward) Woodliff of Lapeer, Michigan, Elaine (Larry) Abel of Riceville, Iowa, Jerry McCarthy of Unionville, Iowa, Shirley Kimberling of Colorado, and Terry (Debbie) Purvis of Gifford, Iowa; twenty step grandchildren; thirty two step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Leona Bell, and three brothers, Ray Hopkins, Virgil Hopkins, and Lester Hopkins.
Funeral services will be held 10:30AM, Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Grace Tabernacle Church in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Robert Pick officiating. Burial will follow at the Eaton Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening at the Lange Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the Grace Tabernacle Church or the Eaton Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
