Opal Blumer's Obituary
Opal Blumer, age 99 of Moravia, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Monroe Care Center in Albia, Iowa.
She was born January 3, 1917 in Appanoose County, the daughter of Olin B. and Nannie (More) Swaim. She graduated from Unionville, Iowa High School in 1935. She was united in marriage to Clell Blumer on October 28, 1939.
Opal enjoyed making quilts, gardening and canning vegetables, going for rides around Unionville, Iowa, doing black walnuts and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Opal is survived by her daughter Patsy (Larry) Brown; grandsons, Branden (Brenda) Heiden, Heath (Sonia) Heiden; granddaughters, Julie Brown, Heather (Erin) Hibma, and Rhea Heiden; great grandchildren, Amber Post, Tory Heiden, Brianne Teeter, Gabrielle Babbot, Alexia Johnson, Trent Johnson, Ethan Hibma, Hannah Hibma, Caulen Hibma, Reese Heiden, Alec Heiden, and Mea Heiden; great great grandchildren, Jayce Heiden and Everly Teeter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clell Blumer; her parents, Olin and Nannie Swaim; daughter Donna Louise Blumer; great grandson Chandler Heiden; brother Russell Swaim; sisters, Faye Bollinger and Lucille Aiden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, Iowa with Pastor Ken Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Moravia. A visitation will take place at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 11 AM-2PM. Memorials have been established to the Grace United Methodist Church of Moravia and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
