Ocie May Moore's Obituary
Ocie May (Faris) Moore, age 104, of Bloomfield, Iowa, and formerly of Appanoose County, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa. She was born the daughter of the late Reese Faris and the late Susan (Rinehart) Faris on May 3, 1901 north of Plano, Iowa. She attended school through the eighth grade and spent most of her life in Appanoose County.Ocie married Spencer Doster McKeehan in Albia, Iowa on December 22, 1922. To this union, seven children were born. Spencer and Ocie purchased a farm south of Moulton, Iowa and moved there in 1943, where they resided until 1956. Ocie worked many years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Centerville, Iowa. Due to Spencer's poor health, they sold their farm and moved to Des Moines, Iowa where they both worked at the Northwestern Medical Center Hospital. In 1965, they retired and moved to Moulton, Iowa, where they enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, and fishing until Spencer died in 1971. Ocie married Cale Moore in 1975 in Lowery City, Missouri. They lived in Brazil, Iowa for several years until later moving to Centerville, Iowa until Cale died in 1988.Ocie loved making quilts and crocheting with many of the items going to people across the United States. She continued crocheting until just a short time before her death. Ocie was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands Spencer Doster McKeehan and Cale Moore; sons Robert McKeehan, Earl McKeehan, and Audrey McKeehan; brothers Arthur Faris, Otto Faris; and a sister, Floy Hawk.Ocie is survived by: daughters Marjory Lepper of Coweta, Oklahoma; Violet Douglas of Kirksville, Missouri; Nora Sales of Rogersville, Missouri; son Spencer L. McKeehan of McKinleyville, California; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Kenneth Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa.
