Norma Jean Flowers' Obituary
Norma Jean Flowers, 82, of Indianola (formerly of Centerville), Iowa, passed away Sunday morning, April 26, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born June 20, 1932, at home in Jerome, Iowa, to Zora Lee and Myral Marie Rash. She was the third of five children. She attended school in Jerome and Seymour, Iowa, graduating from Seymour High School in 1950.On November 2, 1951, she was united in marriage to Forrest (Casey) Edwin Flowers. Norma enjoyed spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren. She loved to shop whether it was at the mall or a local garage sale. Baking was a stress reliever for her and many friends and relatives reaped the rewards of her holiday baking frenzy. Norma also loved to travel, as long as she didn't have to drive, and looked forward to camping at the Iowa State Fair for many years. She was a former member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Centerville.Norma was preceded in death by her husband Casey in 2001, her parents, and her brother William (Bill)Rash in 1982. She is survived by her daughters--Debbie Stevens of Centerville, Iowa; Carol (Jim) Carr of Indianola, Iowa; and Diane (Al) DeHeer of Winterset, Iowa. Norma is also survived by two grandchildren--Heather (Barry) Huebner and Holly Givens, both of Centerville, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren-Shayla Weston of Seymour, Iowa, Kelsey (Nolan Wells) of Plano, Iowa, Austin Huebner of Ames, Iowa, Kendra Huebner of Centerville, Iowa, Carlyann and Cassie Stevens of Centerville, Iowa, and Trey and London Givens of Centerville, Iowa; two great-great grandchildren--Drayden Miller of Seymour, Iowa, and Madelyn Wells of Plano, Iowa. She is also survived by brothers Richard (Joyce) Rash of Des Moines, Iowa, and Max (Anita) Rash of Seymour, Iowa; her sister Bev (Dave) Lotridge of Hensley, Arkansas; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow at the Dale Cemetery north of Centerville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 5 till 8 pm.
