Norma Davidson's Obituary
Norma P. Davidson, age 84, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Norma was born the daughter of Paul and Cristina (Costa) Strazz on December 28, 1928 in Oak Park, Illinois. She attended Austin High School and Wright Jr. College in Chicago, Illinois. Norma was united in marriage to Robert L. Davidson on September 15, 1951 at St. Thomas Aquina's Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois. Norma and family moved to Centerville, Iowa in 1963. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, PEO Chapter D & KA, Outlook Club, MXL and Appanoose Country Club. Norma enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, having good friends, cooking, eating dark chocolate, planting flowers and most importantly, being a mother.She was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert L. Davidson; parents, Paul and Cristina Strazz; brothers Arthur, Thomas and Anthony Strazz; sisters, Mary O'Neill, Edith Klinker and Dolores Podliska. Norma is survived by: her daughters, Kathy Davidson of West Des Moines, Iowa and Margie Nielsen and her husband, Steve of Humboldt, Iowa; a son, Bob Davidson and his wife, Carolyn of Omaha, Nebraska; three granddaughters, Christina and her husband, Chris New, Stephanie and her husband, Anthony Dvorak and Rachel Davidson; three great grandsons Alex, Ben and Hayden; sister-in-laws Madelyn, Delores and Ruthie and 27 nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 11 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Fr. Bill Hubmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013 from 3 pm until 7 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville. A luncheon will follow the services at the cemetery in the basement of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Memorials can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Legacy Foundation at Mercy Hospital-Centerville and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
