Norma Jean Canny's Obituary
Norma Jean Canny, age 80, of Adel passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Adel Acres.
Norma was born on October 23, 1944 in Allerton, Iowa, the daughter of Dwight and Reva (Boyce) Shipley. She was united in marriage to Kenny Reynolds, and to this union, three children were born, Kevin, Kim and Karl. They later divorced. In April of 1995, Norma married Charlie Canny. They spent 13 wonderful years together until he passed in 2008.
Norma was a cosmetologist in Ottumwa at Sue's Cloud Nine for 20 years before retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, reading, raising kids and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved riding motorcycles with her husband, Charlie. They were even members of the A.B.A.T.E. Motorcycle Club.
Left to cherish Norma's memory are her children, Kevin (Cathy) Reynolds, Kim (Randy Ballard) Owen and Karl Reynolds; six grandchildren, Leah (Justin) Preisser, Lonson Reynolds, Kory (Brandi) Owen, Emily (Wyatt) Broyles, John McFarland and Keyen Reynolds; eight great grandchildren; her brother, Clifford Shipley; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Canny; her parents, Dwight and Reva Shipley; her sister, Magee Dorsey; and her niece, Dee Dorsey.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Allerton Cemetery with Leroy Perkins officiating.
