Nicole Lydia Mason's Obituary
Nicole Lydia Mason, age 41, originally of Numa, passed away August 24, 2022.
Nicole was born on August 8, 1981, the daughter of Robert and Teresa (Susin) Martinez. She graduated from high school, and continued her education at Indian Hills Community College.
Nicole worked as a Harm Reduction Specialist for a period of time. She loved volunteering and was an avid advocate for disabilities.
Nicole was very fond of being a mom to her children, Jonathan and Mathew, and had a special relationship with all the other children she also helped raise, including Seth Mason. The kids were blessed to have that bond with her and will love and miss her terribly because of the big influence she had in their lives. She was very good at cooking, and learned her ways of preparing a meal from her grandma Lydia. Nicoles family and friends will always remember her strength, sarcasm, outspoken personality, her confidence and the fact that she never judged anyone and would help anyone in need.
Nicole was a selfless person who always thought of others first. She always took the time out of her life to make something special for her family or friends on every single birthday or special occasion. She always put thought into what they liked and always went out of her way to make them something with no excuses. It was very important to Nicole that everyone special to her received something from her that they loved. She never missed an important anniversary, birthday or event.
Nicole always went out of her way to look nice. She always had the confidence to be exactly who she was and made no apologies for it which made her even more beautiful. She made a positive impact on every person who came in contact with her. She also loved learning history and nature.
Left to cherish Nicoles memory are her father, Robert Martinez of Centerville; her children, Jonathan Neno and Mathew Richard of Centerville; her sister, Michelle Sonderleiter of Des Moines; her half-sister, Keena Mason; a special close cousin, Jessica R. Horung; as well as several nieces, a nephew, numerous cousins and extended friends and family.
Nicole was preceded in death by her mother, Teresa Martinez; her grandparents, Neno and Lydia Susin and Adeliaide (Brown) and Pedro Martinez Jr.; her aunt, Tony Martinez; her uncle, Clarence Davis; as well as several other aunts, cousins and friends.
Nicoles family would like to invite all friends and family to a tree planting ceremony at 4:00PM, Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Numa Community Center in Numa, Iowa, with Pastor Kay Singley officiating.
