Neva Carlson's Obituary
Neva Carlson, age 93, of Centerville, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Charles and Lorraine (Fox) Wright on July 30, 1915 in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from the Centerville Community Schools in 1933.On May 23, 1936, Neva was united in marriage to Gerald Carlson in Galesburg, Illinois. She worked as a secretary for several years in Des Moines, Iowa during the War as well as the Welfare Office. Later, she would work as a bookkeeper for Paul Callen, the Justice of the Peace in Appanoose County in Centerville. Neva was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Centerville.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Gerald Carlson on November 11, 1997 and a brother, Max Wright.Neva is survived by: her daughter, Nancy and her husband, Gary Zessin of Gretna, Nebraska; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Carlson of Centerville, Iowa and a niece, Carol Shafer and her husband, Dave of Ottumwa, Iowa.Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 11 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Brian Wachter officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm.Memorials can be made in her name and will be designated at a later date.
