Neta M Pierce's Obituary
Neta Marie Pierce, age 80, of Cairo, Missouri, formerly of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly, Missouri.
Neta was born on January 14, 1946, in Centerville, Iowa, the cherished daughter of Homer and Elsie (Mitchell) Allen. After graduating from high school, she continued her education at Indian Hills Community College, where she earned her Associate's degree-an accomplishment she was proud to achieve.
On May 26, 1963, Neta was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Keith Pierce, in Kirksville, Missouri. To this union two sons were born, Rick and Brian, who remained the pride and joy of her life. The couple later moved to Cincinnati, Iowa.
Neta was known throughout the community for her warm spirit and tireless work ethic. Alongside her family, she co-owned and operated the Laundromat on the levee for twelve years. She also worked as secretary at DeLong Sports Wear in Albia, where her kindness and dependability left a lasting impression on coworkers and friends alike.
Outside of work, Neta found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She had a gift for nurturing things-whether tending a flourishing garden, carefully crocheting handmade treasures, or preparing meals that brought loved ones together around the table. Her home was often filled with the comforting aromas of cooking, laughter shared among family, and the warmth she so naturally gave to others.
Left to cherish Neta's memory are her son, Brian Pierce; her canine son, Keyon; her grandchild, Ricci Marie Harbour; her sister, Reta Ollmann; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Neta was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Keith Pierce; her son, Richard Paul Pierce; her parents, Homer and Elsie Allen; her grandson, Paul Allen Pierce; and her siblings, Warren Allen, Betty Smith, Robert Allen, Paul Allen and Lloyd Allen.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, May 22, 2026 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Curtis Riley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati. Visitation will take place Friday, at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 1:00PM-2:00PM.
