Nellie V. Heckman's Obituary
Nellie V. (Whicker) Heckman, age 103, of Papillion, Nebraska, formerly of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, September 9, 2004, at Huntington Park Care Center in Papillion, Nebraska. She was born the daughter of Harlan and Emma (Boyer) Whicker on April 13, 1901 in Moravia, Iowa. Nellie attended country schools in Fourbush, Rathbun, Jerome, Moravia and Udell.On February 9, 1922, Nellie was united in marriage to Frank Heckman in Boston, Missouri. She taught in country schools in Barton County, Missouri for three years before staying home and caring for her family.Nellie is survived by: her two sons Harold, and his wife Marian, of Centerville, Iowa and Harley, and his wife Betty, of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Irene DeLambert of Wamsutter, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 6 great great granchildren.She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Frank in 1989; her daughter, LeAnn Tomlin; her son, Winfred; two grandsons, Richard Heckman and Harold Heckman, Jr.; one great grandson; two sisters; and five brothers.Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 13, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow at the Denny Cemetery north of Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 12, 2004 from 2:00 PM til 4:00 PM, with the family present, at the funeral home.The family is asking that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the Drake Avenue Christian Church, or to the church of the Donor's choice.
