Nancy C. Tietsort's Obituary
Nancy Carroll Tietsort, age 79, of Sedona, Arizona, and a former Centerville, Iowa and Unionville, Missouri resident, died Friday, July 25, 2014 at her home in Sedona. She was born at home on wash day on July 15, 1935 in Centerville, Iowa the daughter of John D. and Margaret (Harvey) Lewis. She graduated from the Centerville Community High School in 1954. Nancy received the Lord as her Savior on December 11, 1945. Her father Baptized her and a number of others at the same time. On October 19, 1958, Nancy was united in marriage to 2nd Lt. Fredrick Leroy Tietsort at the Unionville United Methodist Church in Unionville, Missouri. They enjoyed over 55 years of marriage together. They had a lot of good times and made a lot of friends on their journey through life together, and never looked back. Nancy loved her family and always tried to put them first. She never missed a High School football game and was known to yell at the COACH from the bleachers at times. She was active in a number of different clubs. Beta Sigma Phi before she was married. After marriage it was the Officer's Wives' Club, you grow up fast there or you can be left feeling out of place. It was quite an experience. The American Cancer Society - Secretary, Golf tournament chairman and Special Gifts Chairman for about 18 years. Then while living in Yorba Linda, California, she belonged to 'The Service League' where she was Vice President and helped design and build Floats for the 'Fiesta Day Parade' also, 20 years on the Putnam County Health Board, first as holding more than one Office position, and then on the Board of Directors. Nancy played Golf at the Unionville, Missouri Country Club, sometimes traveling to different towns to play in a tournament. She loved to paint pictures, cook, sew, and was willing to feed any of her son's friends anytime they stopped by the house at dinner time. She wishes everyone a good life, but don't forget the Lord Jesus Christ, in your daily prayers. Remember he sees and hears everything we do, good or bad. Enjoy your family while you can, because you only have one life to live.She was preceded in death by: her parents, John D. and Margaret H. Lewis; husband, Fredrick 'Leroy' Tietsort; and a brother, John David Lewis; nephew, Randall Tietsort and a sister-in-law, Sandra Wright.Nancy leaves behind a beloved son, John Tietsort and his wife, Susan of Sedona, Arizona; grandson, Daniel Kunkle of Cottonwood, Arizona; brother-in-law, Lanny Tietsort and his wife, Shirley; niece, Debra Tietsort and her son, Brandon Tietsort and his wife, Kelley, and a nephews, Bradley Tietsort, David Michael Lewis and his wife, Tiena, David Lewis, Gregory Lewis and his wife, Amanda and their daughter, Khloe and son, Ty. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Howard Luscan officiating. Burial will follow in the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Missouri. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm. Memorials can be made to either the Unionville United Methodist Church or to the Sedona Humane Society and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
