Nancy Kelly's Obituary
Nancy Kelly, 84, of Centerville, passed away on August 20, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Nancy was born on May 30, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri to John and Dorothy (Brodie) Bryan. She married Richard Kelly on July 25, 1954 and to this union, three children were born. Nancy and Richard owned Kelly's Jewelry on the Centerville square for 35 years. She was also the executive assistant at the Chamber of Commerce for several years. Nancy was artistically gifted and was an excellent pianist and singer. She was creative in knitting, counted cross-stitch, painting, jewelry-making, gardening, and her most recent passion was quilting. Nancy loved designing quilts and sharing them with family and friends. She was very active in the Material Girlz Quilt Guild and received many awards for her talented creations. She also participated in PEO, Wednesday Club, Appanoose Country Club, and several bridge clubs over the years. Nancy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard; daughter, Ricki (Lance) Shankster; son, Scott (Jackie) Kelly; grandchildren: Sierra (Collin) Long, Aaron Kelly, Alexandra Kelly and Grant Kelly and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Judy (Edward) Mitchell as well as numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Kelly; brother, Jack Bryan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Robert and Ruby Kelly. In lieu of a funeral, a gathering will be held at First United Methodist Church (Fellowship Hall) to share memories and celebrate Nancy's life from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019. Private interment will take place at a later date at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Missouri.
