Myra Vandemark's Obituary
Myra (Opperman) Vandemark, age 75 of Mystic, Iowa died Friday, December 16, 2011 at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.
Myra was born to Terrell and Letty (Fisher) Hunter on October 23, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was raised in Winder, GA, and moved to Chicago where she met Jim Opperman and got married. To this union six children were born. They then moved to Udell, Iowa. Jim died in 1977 and Myra moved to Centerville. She married Leon Vandemark. She spent most of her life as a wife, mother, and grandmother where her children and grandchildren were her most important thing in life. Myra loved to play bingo, cards Blitz and bake zucchini bread.
She is survived by 3 children Penny Opperman and Rod Thomas of Mystic, Iowa, Robin Opperman of Mystic, Sherman Opperman of Auburn, GA, granddaughter Patty (John) Hatfield of Mystic, brother Russell Hunter of Winder, GA, a stepdaughter Debbie Wells of Cincinnati, Iowa; grandchildren Tim, Josh, Nicole, Dawson, Anthony, Elizabeth, Dottie, Heather, Emily, Savannah, Justice, Madison, Mason, Chyenne, Myra, Earl, Sally, Jaylynn, Michael, Brendon, Hayden, David, Steven, Tim, Jeremy, Allison, Brett, Kaiden, Traiton, T.J., and Roman. Close Friends Ted and Vicki Clark family, Katy and Bob Wrieman and family, Rick Thomas, Judy Thomas Family, allof her special friends from Bing and Gordies.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband Jim, 3 children, Patricia Ann in 1969, Debra Jean in 2005, and Jimmy Franklin in 2005, and her parents.
Graveside services will be held 3PM Monday afternoon December 19, 2011 at Salem Cemetery, Udell, Iowa with Pastor Brian Hargrave officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2:30PM Monday afternoon at the Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. A memorial has been established to the Myra Vandemark Memorial fund.
