MRS JAN DARRAH Obituary's Obituary
Ola Janetta (Jan) Darrah went home to be with her Lord May 20, 2011 at the age of 71. Jan spent her last few days with her family and under the loving care of Legacy Lodge Circle of Life Hospice in Chariton. Jan was born to Clyde and Ruby Smith in Lineville, IA on July 10, 1939. She grew up in the Seymour and Allerton area. United in marriage to William E Darrah on January 20, 1957. Jan joined Bill in Aurora, IL where they lived for 14 years. In Aurora Jan worked as a nurse's aide where she found a love for caring for others. Jan and Bill moved back to Corydon in1971. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Corydon. She worked at various jobs including Citizens Bank, Corydon Bank and FHA. Jan went back to school and earned her LPN nursing degree in 1993. She worked at Care Centers in Corydon, Seymour and Chariton. She had a compassionate heart for the elderly and in return she was blessed by the care she received at Legacy Lodge. She is survived by her husband William Earl Darrah of Corydon, her son Carlton Darrah of Corydon and daughter Penny (Bob) Runberg of Dubuque, IA. Her grandchildren Joshua (Theresa) McBroom, Riley and Madison Darrah, Christopher and Travis Runberg, two great grandchildren Grace and Carter McBroom. Two sisters Clair Etta Heaton of Des Moines and Ruby (Dick) Fain of Allerton. Two sister in laws Jean Smith of Des Moines, Chris Smith of Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.
