MRS KLINGER's Obituary
VIVIAN LORINE KLINGER Vivian Lorine Holmes, daughter of Roy and Marie (Laughlin) Holmes, was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 25, 1928. She was the fifth of seven children. Her siblings included Kathleen Sponsler (Dean), Gladys Sheets (Leonard), Opal Liggett (Donald) John Holmes (Norma), Lee Holmes (Keo) and Dick Holmes (Juanita). Lorine's family moved many times and she attended many schools, graduating from Cambria High School in 1946. During the time she was in high school and after her graduation, Lorine worked at a grocery store in Cambria and she was also baptized at the Methodist Church in Cambria. On July 20, 1947 Lorine was united in marriage to Burl Klinger. Three children, Joan, Jean, and Lori, were born to this union. Burl and Lorine lived and farmed south Corydon in Jackson Township. In 1978 Burl and Lorine owned and operated the East Side Grocery Store in Corydon while still farming. Besides being a business owner and a homemaker, Lorine worked along side Burl in the field. After they retired from farming, they started the Klinger Saw Horse business and they also trimmed out 199 doublewide homes for Iowa Manufactured Homes. Lorine worked at Swan Restaurant in Promise City and the Home Health Care Services for seven years. She was also a successful Pretty Punch dealer. She made various items including wedding quilts for her grandchildren. In Lorine's home the door was always open and the coffee pot was always on. Even though Lorine was only 5'4", she had a lot of energy and was a hard worker. She instilled this into her family. Because family time was so important to Lorine, it made the Christmas celebrations and camping vacations very special. Lorine is survived by husband Burl, brother Lee Holmes, sister Kathleen Sponsler, daughters Joan Klinger, Jean Guikema and husband Bob, and Lori Armstrong and husband Steve, grandchildren Jennifer and husband Paul, Ryan and wife Jenny, Jessica and husband Tory, Rena and husband Jimmy, Terri, and Heather and great grandchildren Cale, Marissa, Logan and Karley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Marie Holmes, sisters Gladys Sheets and Opal Liggett, and brothers John, and Dick Holmes, and a son.
