Mrs. Glendene Floy Paugh Obituary's Obituary
Glendene Floy Paugh, daughter of William E. and Lulu Elizabeth Sutton was born May 13, 1915 on a farm near Derby, Iowa. Her family moved into Derby when she was 6 years old. She passed away at the Wayne County Hospital on July 16, 2011 at the age of 96 years, 2 months, and 3 days. Glendene attended Derby School from which she graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1933. She went on to attend Simpson College where she received a certificate to teach. She taught at the Lucerne rural school until she married Lloyd Paugh in 1934. To this union two children were born, Edward Craig and Linda Sue. Lloyd and Glendene were engaged in farming southeast of Humeston until their retirement in 1976 when they built a new home and moved into Humeston. Glendene had many hobbies including oil painting, quilting, and golf. She and Lloyd were members of the Humeston Methodist Church and Lakeside Golf Club. Glendene was a long time member of. P.E.O. and Yorel Club. A special delight of hers was attending the coffee groups that gathered around town. Over the years Glendene was a helpmate on the farm but she also worked to create off the farm income. She was a waitress at Jimmy's Cafe and worked as a bank teller for the bank in Humeston and did some substitute teaching. In later years she opened a craft shop with her friend Virginia Francisco and sold items from local artists. She was a talented and gifted person and shared with those around her. Preceding Glendene in death were: Lloyd, her husband of 52 years, her parents William E. and Lulu Elizabeth Sutton, her parents-in-law Edward and Verna Paugh, brothers Edwin and Leslie, sisters Carma Exley and husband Joe, Zella Carpenter and husband Everett, Wilma Sutton, Lucille Kipper and husband Max, sister-in-law Doris Kipper and husband Kenneth. Glendene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and her children were a very special joy to her and she to them. Left to celebrate her life are son Craig Paugh and wife Shirley, San Clemente, California and daughter Linda Bryan and husband Clell, Allerton, Iowa, granddaughter Cynthia Michelsen and husband David, Norwalk, Iowa, grandsons Kevin Paugh and wife Linda, San Clemente, California, Boake Paugh and wife Lisa, Rancho Cucamonga, California, and Kyle Bryan and wife Julie, Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Other survivors include her great grandchildren Tyler Paugh, Las Vegas, Nevada, Kelly Paugh Laguna Nigel, California, David Paugh and Katie Paugh, Rancho Cucamonga, California, Bryan and Dylan Michelsen, Norwalk, Iowa and Collin and Caleb Bryan, Pleasant Hill, Iowa and beloved nieces, nephews, other family members and many long time friends.
