MR ERNEST CARMON MOSER Obituary's Obituary
Ernest Carmon Moser was born August 2, 1920 in Humeston, Iowa He was the first born child of Ernest Carl and Carrie (Gunzenhauser) Moser. He later welcomed siblings George, Dolores,James William,Colleen, Eileen, Gloria and Beverly Joyce to the family. Carmon was raised during the Depression era. It was period of time when many families struggled to provide for everyone. Children were sent to live with other family members for periods of time. Carmon lived with Fred & Grace Gunzenhauser and worked on their farm. Later in life he still spoke of the things he learned while working on the farm. Carmon and George ran trap lines to earn spending money. Carmon graduated from Humeston High School in 1938. With encouragement from his parents and assistance from his aunt Lydia Gunzenhauser and Erich Funke he attended and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1943 with a degree in German language. He believed this period of time in his life to be the best. He has established a scholarship program for Wayne County students to attend the University of Iowa. He was an avid Hawkeye fan until the end. He was drafted and served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific until being discharged in 1947. He then resumed his career with General Motors that would take him around the world until his retirement in 1984. While living in the Detroit area Carmon was very involved in civic organizations. He served as President of the Pontiac Art Center. He regularly attended Detroit Tiger baseball games and knew many of the players. He was an avid fisherman who liked to share stories of his annual fishing trips to Canada. He married Irene Moser in 1948. They later divorced. He returned to Corydon in 2002 to be closer to his Iowa family. Carmon is survived by a sister, Colleen Holley of Shell Rock, Iowa, sister-in-law Phyllis Moser of Corydon, brother-in-law Bob Trisler of Humeston, nieces and nephews, Ric Moser, Lindsay Moser Grismore, Paul Holley, Robert Holley, Chuck Holley, Ron Hinebaugh, Dave Bryan, Steve Bryan, Sumiko Kaga, David Kaga, Stephanie Trisler Mendenhall, Jeff Trisler, and Pamela Trisler Wilkin.
