Minnie V. Stocker's Obituary
Minnie Viola Stocker, age 108, of Moravia, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of George and Lizzie (Adams) Irelan on December 6, 1904 in Appanoose County near Moravia, Iowa. She graduated from the Moravia High School in 1924.On December 22, 1925, Minnie was united in marriage to Elvin Stocker in Ottumwa, Iowa. They farmed together for many years near Moravia, Iowa. She was a member of the Unionville Legion Auxiliary in Unionville, Iowa. In death, she joins her parents; husband, Elvin Stocker; son, Bobby Stocker on August 20, 2009; her daughter, Helen Lou Burton on October 26, 2009; her five brothers, and four sisters.Minnie is survived by: her daughter, Shirley Sherwood and her husband, Bill of Milo, Iowa; grandchildren, Kristin Toombs and her husband, Tim of Indianola, Iowa and Mark Sherwood and his wife, Jayne of Milo, Iowa; Six great grandchildren; three great great granddaughters.Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Carl & Sharon Heien officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery south of Moravia, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday before the services at the funeral home.
