Milton Thomas' Obituary
Milton (Mick) Thomas, age 85 of Centerville died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Seymour Care Center, Seymour, Iowa. Mick was born June 4, 1926 in Centerville (near 30 corner) the daughter of Pete and Pauline Blozevich Thomas. He married Margaret Sackfield July 22, 1950 at Centerville, Iowa. He was employed by Iowa Southern Utilities until his retirement in 1989. He also farmed most of his life. In his early years he worked at strip mines in Appanoose County. He loved to play softball and was an active member of the Croatian Fest held annually in Centerville. Mick served in the US Army during WWII. He is survived by 6 children: Mike (Joyce) Thomas of Centerville, Iowa, Jane (Gary) Whitney Livonia, MO, Salley (Richard) Embree of Arnold, MO, Judy (Danny) Clark of Centerville, Debbie Thomas of Pella, IA, Marsha (Kevin) Whisler of Centerville, IA; grandchildren Jill Whisler, Katie Fisher, Cora Jaulin, Anne Rinchiuso, Beth Coffey, Angela Clark, Lauren Houser, Mick Whitney, Lucas Whitney, Billy Coffey, Clint Coffey, Andy Clark, Mark Whisler, Matt Whisler, Mike Whisler, Brandon Houser, Nathan Houser, Benjamin Bailey, Blake Bailey, Brennan Bailey, Braydon Bailey, Blaine Bailey, 21 great grandchildren, a sister Vera (David) Salter, Newton, TX, Tom (Sue) Thomas, Washington, Iowa, James (Jan) Thomas of Centerville, Richard (Jane) Thomas of Centerville. He was preceded in death by a sister Teresa (Merle) Bailey. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Centerville. Friends may call all day Monday at the Lange Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 PM. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Mystic, Iowa. A memorial has been established to All-Play and the New High School Wrestling Room and may be left or mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
