MILO JONES Obituary's Obituary
Milo Jones, son of Frank (Casey) Jones & Grace Clark Jones, was born in rural Wayne County on February 2, 1924. Milo was the third of five children and grew up on a farm near Clio. He graduated from Corydon High School. After graduation, he entered the Army and was shipped overseas in December of 1943. He was assigned to the 612 Engineers Light Equipment Company, 1st Army and served under General Omar Bradley. In June 1944, his unit landed on Omaha Beach. Milo was awarded five bronze stars serving in Normandy, Rhineland, N. France, Belgium (Battle of the Bulge) and Central Europe. During his service, he attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Milo and the members of the 612 Engineers remained close friends over the years. Milo along with other members of his unit traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the dedication of the World War II Memorial. The group held annual reunions for sixty-five years until four years ago when they sadly decided the end of an era had come and it was a time to discontinue their reunions. Milo remained patriotic throughout his life & was proud of his service to his country. After his discharge from the Army, he attended the University of Iowa. After graduation, he became part owner of Jones Dairy, Corydon, Iowa. Upon leaving there, he moved to Des Moines where he became a real estate broker. He served for a time on the Des Moines Board of Realtors. He later left real estate and became a Right-of-Way Purchasing Agent, a job he loved as it allowed him to travel extensively, working in many states. Milo was an avid golfer and loved to play cards. He was a member of the American Legion Post #68 in Corydon. Milo is survived by his wife Dee; son, Dennis (Angela) and children, Sabrina and Danielle, 2 great-grandchildren, Alex and Shelby, Fairfield, Ca; son, Todd (Janet) and children, Ryan and Kathryn, West Des Moines, Iowa; four step-daughters, Pam (Ed) Mahaffey, Springfield, Mo; Vicki (Bruce) Metzger, Pineville, MO; DiAnne (David) Smith, Rogers, AR; Kris (Jerry) Hoffmeister, Silt, CO; a sister-in-law, Maxine Jones, Corydon, IA; 8 step-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters, Betty Lohr, Norma Warren & Marge Hatch and brother, Richard Jones.. .
